Currently, I am employed as a Tier 2 Network Engineer assigned to the NYS Office for Technology. Utilizing IP/subnetting and VLANs, I utilize LAN networks that link servers and switches within the different Production, Administration, and Backup LAN networks create detailed and informative IP/subnet cable orders and I am an IP database administrator. I am responsible for rack mounting, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and turn-up of Cisco 2950 and 3750 switches and ports, Cisco 6500 port configurations, testing, and troubleshooting in addition to installing, testing and troubleshooting CAT-6 and fiber optic cabling. My position as a Tier 2 Network Engineer has afforded me the opportunity to manage a wide range of responsibilities including individual assignments, the ERB project schedule, walkthroughs, research projects, cabling installation, network turn-up timeframes, etc. Recently, I was involved with a major Backup LAN Migration Project which involved configuration, testing, troubleshooting and cutover of new Cisco 3750 switches, cabling, IP assignments, research and other duties which enabled the migration of approximately 1000 servers onto a new network. I was also recently involved with certain aspects of design and implementation of a new, modern data center. Previously, I was employed as a Field Engineer/Project Manager and I was involved with T1 installation, testing, and troubleshooting, antenna sweeping, completing detailed site surveys, shelter equipment installation and cell site acquisition. In 2004, I was involved in building a Federally mandated GPS based E911 wireless network in the Albany, Syracuse, and Binghamton, NY Markets at existing cell sites utilizing GPS antenna, WLS, DSU, and related equipment for AT T Wireless. During the previous four plus years in the field of telecommunications, I was independently involved with installing, programming, and troubleshooting switches/hubs, routers, PCs, TCP/IP, networks, muxes, and DSUs/CSUs. The previous three years were spent locating fiber optic cable and fiber optic cable restoration/repair/splicing, installing, testing and troubleshooting DSUs/CSUs, channel banks, and muxes, as well as analog, DSO, T1, DS3, OC12-48, and fiber optic network circuits SONET and related equipment.

Responsible for utilizing LAN networks that link servers and switches, project management, walkthroughs, outage windows, cutovers, switch configuration, troubleshooting and testing. Job duties and related skills include:

  • Rack mount, configure, turn-up, test and troubleshoot Cisco 2950/3750 and Nortel 350/450/470 switches and ports and configure, turn-up, test and troubleshoot Cisco 6500 ports via console cable and VPN client. Test and troubleshoot CAT-6 and fiber optic cabling. Backup configurations to the share.
  • Manage walkthroughs with customers and the Facilities Department to determine equipment and rack placement, discuss installation and turn-up timeframes, determine the networks and cabling types to be utilized based on the customer's requirements, and determine solutions to any problems or issues that may arise.
  • Project Manage the Equipment Request Board schedule, attend weekly meetings to discuss timeframes and any issues that may arise, document work and updates, adhere to timelines put forth by the customer's schedule for network turn-up, and coordinate the electricians' cabling installation with the Facilities Department.
  • Manage many of the networking responsibilities and functions at four Data Centers.
  • Maintain IP/subnet database and utilize VLAN and IP/subnet information to link servers and switches by creating detailed and informative copper and fiber optic cable orders.
  • Completed Backup LAN Migration Project: Installed, configured, troubleshooted and turned-up new BU switches and ports, cutover cables to new BU switches, assigned IPs, research, documentation and other duties to migrate nearly 1000 servers onto the new network.

Sr. Project Manager

Responsible for testing T1s and antenna sweep testing, completing detailed site surveys, interior shelter equipment and coax/cable installation, completion of circuit request forms, updating site information/status, finding suitable locations for new cell towers/antennas, monitoring site construction, various site acquisition duties, etc. Job duties and related skills include:

  • Build detailed and accurate site surveys at existing wireless cell sites by creating detailed drawings, recording GPS coordinates, suggesting site repairs or improvements, taking detailed pictures and measurements, and completing checklists with accuracy and detail.
  • Wire, test, and troubleshoot T1 circuits from the telco demarc and test antenna sweeps with modern test equipment. Interpret test results accordingly.
  • Install GSM equipment in Ericsson RBS 2206 cabinets, antenna coax, T1 and alarm cabling, SIADs, and battery rack connections inside of prefabricated shelters.
  • Monitor the construction progress at cell sites and provide updates where needed.
  • Attend site and preconstruction walks with landlords/officials and contractors.
  • Locate information and create circuit request forms. Track circuits requests and FOC dates.
  • Project Manage utilizing search ring data to locate suitable raw land or existing structures to build new cell towers or to add new antennas to existing towers/structures in weak coverage areas. Meet with landlords/officials to look at the proposed areas and to discuss various details.
  • Responsible for independently cutting over Cisco 2600 series routers and 2950/3750 switches, rewiring existing cabling to CAT-6 specifications, configurations and testing the new LAN network with the central office with a 100 success rate.
  • Team leader responsible for removing existing Cisco switches, labeling and removing existing CAT-5 cabling, and then installing and cascading new Cisco 2950 switches and reinstalling the existing CAT-5 cabling. Project completed.
  • Responsible for independently completing site surveys, logistical work, and in a team environment, installing and maintaining RF equipment at existing wireless cell sites for a Federally mandated GPS based E911 project. Project completed. Job duties and related skills include:
  • Build detailed and accurate site surveys at existing wireless cell sites by creating drawings, recording GPS coordinates, taking detailed pictures and measurements, and proposing GPS antenna locations based on the site survey data.
  • Install WLS and DSU/CSU equipment, GPS antennas, RF coax, grounding cables, T1 ickypic, and related equipment inside of an Ericsson Type RBS 2106 Third Generation cabinet, program DSU/CSU equipment, completion of T1 hot cuts, and troubleshooting.

  • Responsible for independently installing, testing, configuring and troubleshooting a wide variety of telecommunications equipment and circuit testing at customer premises, including NYS Agencies, banks, schools, and Police Departments, and related functions.   • Install, program, upgrade, test, troubleshoot, and repair various types of company-provided and OEM equipment including Cisco 2600 series routers and switches, Nortel Site Manager, Nortel ASN, ANH and ARN routers utilizing frame relay, Nortel 350/450/470 switches and hubs, DSUs/CSUs, software, ISDN and analog modems, personal computers and peripheral equipment, and multiplexers.
