Selected Project Experience
- Project Manager. A survey of Army active duty personnel, family members, retirees and Department of Army/DoD civilians e.g., providers, program managers focusing on use of, satisfaction with, and perceptions about the Army's Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation MWR programs and services. Project results are used to prioritize and improve MWR services and delivery, and to empirically gauge the impact of Family and MWR programs on resilience and readiness throughout the Army.
- Project Manager. A study conducted for the Department of Veteran Affairs VA to evaluate sampling methods and participation rates in preparation for a larger nationwide study with the goal of identifying the most important genes that influence risk and resilience for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder PTSD . Study focused on OIF/OEF Veterans.
- Project Manager. An assessment of the need for, and economic effectiveness in delivering, the services and supplies business lines provided by each of the 26 Defense Agencies and DoD Field Activities.
- Senior Data Collection Task Leader Focus Groups. This study provided DOD with key information and insights to inform potential policy changes on the military communities' opinions regarding the Don't Ask, Don't Tell law.
- An Army-wide survey of the non-military spouses of Active Army Soldiers on topics and issues related to the Army way of life housing and transportation, relocation, deployments and separations, background, employment status, volunteer work, health care, recreation programs and installation service . Data supports the Army Staff in a wide variety of program and resource decisions.
- Project Manager. Tasks included designing the survey instruments Web and mail sampling design project management plan and data collection, analysis and reporting. Major survey goal was to determine respondent awareness, use, and anticipated use of VA benefits to inform VA policy-makers in planning future programs and services for Veterans.
- Project Manager of a series of tasks in support of an effort to examine service member conversion of Service members' Group Life Insurance SGLI to Veterans Group Life insurance VGLI . Requirements included a mail survey and data analysis to determine if Veterans were making a rational and informed choice when they decide to either convert or not to convert, as well as an evaluation of the effectiveness of outreach and information efforts in helping the eligible veterans in making that informed choice.
- Project Manager of a series of customer satisfaction surveys to participants in the joint Department of Defense-Department of Veterans Affairs Disability Evaluation System pilot. The primary goal of this study was to provide customer satisfaction data from pilot program participants and stakeholders to support policy change and program implementation decisions.
- Project Manager of a Task order in support of the Dole-Shalala Commission - a bipartisan presidential commission to review the services America provides to its returning wounded warriors. Primary focus was on military members who had undergone medical treatment for wounds sustained in Operation Enduring Freedom or Iraqi Freedom OEF/OIF . Data was used to support other information obtained from Commission hearings and public meetings to draft recommendations to: 1 improve the transition from deployment to other military service or civilian life, 2 ensure high-quality service for returning wounded service members, and 3 increase access to benefits and services.
- Project Manager. The purpose of this study was to examine the prospect of more frequent and longer deployments in the future on un-deployed Soldiers' intent to remain in the Army and on Soldier morale. The objective was to identify among Active component Soldiers who have not deployed to war theaters: 1 the impacts that anticipated deployments and changes in rotation policies may have on career intentions and morale and 2 the factors related to those impacts.
- Project Manager. This study examined the impacts of current mobilizations and the prospect of more frequent and longer mobilizations in the future on Soldier intent to remain in the CONFIDENTAIL Reserve USAR and Soldier morale. This study focused on the perceived impact on both the Soldiers and their families and identified: 1 the impact of the mobilizations on career plans, commitment, morale, stress, Soldier/family well-being, and Soldier views on the desirability of others joining the Army 2 preparedness for the mobilization e.g., adequacy of training for war-fighting and for stability tasks 3 experiences during the mobilization e.g., mobilization length, perceived quality of leadership, quality of life and after they return and, 4 perceptions regarding the USAR of the future.
- Project Manager of a survey data collection effort to gather information from five different TRICARE Military Health System beneficiary groups about their TRICARE information needs, sources, and preferences. This project provided TRICARE Management Activity communications and customer service manager's recommendations on how to better design and carry out effective communication strategies to meet beneficiary needs.
- Project Manager of a data collection mail survey effort to survey TRICARE medical healthcare providers located at 52 Military Treatment Facilities MTF and clinics located throughout the United States. The purpose of this study was to provide DoD health care personnel and policy decision-makers with feedback from direct care providers who provide care through DoD Medical Treatment Facilities MTF on issues pertaining to care delivery processes, continuity of care, treatment plan execution, and work conditions that affect the rendering of quality care.

- Operations Manager for a task in support of a Bureau of the Census initiated rapid-turnaround effort to meet with experts on the rural population and write a report responsive to congressional questions about the design of the American Community Survey ACS .

- Project Manager for a survey measuring levels of health care utilization, satisfaction with various aspects of the military health care system, health status, access to care, and familiarity with insurance and other benefits.
- Project Manager. Developed and conducted surveys of military-operated DDESS schools and nonmilitary school districts with large military-connected student populations. This study examined the possibility of transferring the on-base DDESS schools to local education agencies LEAs and measured military parents' perspectives on the quality of education provided by the DDESS and/or LEA schools.
