Project Manager/Programmer/Owner
Responsibilities:
- Designed and implemented a permanent anode for the Amerimade wet plating bench to replace the existing Sn (tin) anode balls that needed to be replaced frequently
- Re-designed their Amerimade wet plating bench tank overflow sensor. The existing capacitive sensor triggered off of the material of the tank due to the sensitivity of the sensor which left the (PLC) Programmable Logic Controller in the alarm state continuously. New design included a capacitive sensor with an adjustable sensitivity potentiometer.
- Implemented a database and ASP.NET program for the framework to support (VMI) Vendor Managed Inventory
- Solved the problem of multiple cassettes in the same process by designing a cassette that will work in all processes and will spin in the (SRD) Spin-Rinse-Dryer at 1800 RPM without breaking wafers.

Quality Engineer / Statistician
Responsibilities:
- Designed and implemented an MS SQL Database to hold development parametric data
- Developed ASP.NET program to insert/extract data from the database
- Developed and enforced all statistical test plans
- Provided all statistical support: DOE’s, test plans, correlations, statistical analysis
- Provided metrology support for blue laser glass disk particle counter
- Provided Quality reports on capital equipment for customer

Automation Program Manager
Responsibilities:
- Developed and coded a program in C# ASP.NET in order to provide VMI ( Vendor Managed Inventory ) for external customers. This program employed MS SQL 2008 R2 for data storage
- Solved a uniformity problem for thin film hard disk industry. There are over 43,000 sliders ( read write heads ) on a wafer and the etching uniformity was very poor and the scrap rate was high due to poor uniformity. Designed and implemented a combination Optical/CMM measurement tool and characterization procedure to improve uniformity of the etching within the wafer. This measurement characterization methodology is currently being used by Western Digital
- Performed ETL functions translating from excel worksheets to MSSQL 2008 R2 for migrating customer data in to HOST Server database format
Confidential, Fremont, CA
C++/C# Programmer / Analyst
Responsibilities:
- Employed MS SQL recently acquired skills from UC Santa Cruz in order to implement the first “Auto Recipe Download” software in the critical “Wafer Fabrication” manufacturing. This was coupled with integration with the existing “MES” and “SPC” system for the purpose of controlling all process tooling.
- Developed and coded a comprehensive “Process Control” program in C++ using several Active X components. For the first time WDC could mix products in their critical high vacuum tooling and rest assured they were being processed with the correct recipe. Please see letters from my colleagues on LinkedIn
- Developed and coded a complete ASP.NET program that complemented my C++ local application program. This web program allowed process engineers to setup recipes from their desk and made the new recipe available to manufacturing in real time in order to process the parts. This saved the process engineer time by eliminating the need to gown up to go into the clean room every time they wanted to make a change to their process recipe. This also resulted in improved yield because the process engineer was able to work from their desk where they had all of the needed reference material to make changes.
- Developed Requirement Document(s) to support SDLC for multiple projects
- Developed a and coded a program for IONMILL that dynamically calculated the correct etch time for the critical “Pole Tip Trim’ and “Damescene” process.
- Interfaced with Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Maintenance and Vendor Engineers to implement the complete ( SDLC ) Software Design Life Cycle.

Engineer / Scientist
Responsibilities:
- Managed the correlation and ongoing SPC control for site in 4 remote countries.
- Process and Development: Led a team of internal engineers and technicians as well as outside contractors to upgrade the wafer fab process from batch to cell concept and implement lean manufacturing concepts. Managed and directed the build of the first 6 of 21 manufacturing cells in San Jose. Led the installation of the first 3 manufacturing cells in Guadalajara Mexico. Coordinated the installation of the manufacturing cell in Mainz Germany and Vezprem Hungary. Provided ongoing support for the balance of the cells.
- Process Tooling: Developed tooling to eliminate HDD read/write head lubricant stiction in the head/disk interface where the head was actually repeatedly pulled off of the suspension when the disk turned. Designed an Interferometer/Image Board/Microscope measurement system to accurately measure taper angle. The taper on the end of the head eliminated the stiction problem. Managed the build of 26 stations in San Jose and deployed to 4 countries.
- Programming: Controlled 7 measurement parameters in order to control fly height from one product to the next (Crown, Twist, Camber, Roll off, Etch Depth, Wall Angle and Recession) by designing and coding a C++ program to build the recipe dynamically. Products were mixed in manufacturing and this program selected the correct recipe each time reducing scrap by eliminating the use of incorrect recipes.
- Quality: Selected and installed the LEO ( SEM ) Scanning Electron Microscope for the purpose of failure analysis. Managed ongoing ( FA ) failure analysis, root cause analysis lapping by taking a cross section of the read/write head and analyzing it on the SEM.
- Programming Language Platforms: embedded C, C++ GUI using MFC. Developed required DB2 database schemas.
- Planned and requested all capital money. Managed multi-million dollar budgets for building tooling.
- Managed expense money for non-capital items o Authored all ( MPI ) Manufacturing Process Instructions, ( MMM ) Manufacturing Maintenance Manuals using the complete Microsoft Office Suite
- Developed an optical measurement tool for ( PTGM ) Pole Tip Geometry Measurement in a time when the existing AMS200 PTGM tool did not have GAGE ( resolution ) or the ability to handle multiple products. There were no other gage capable tools on the market at that time. This tool allowed Confidential to continue their path on the technology roadmap
