End User Computing Architect

Responsibilities:

  • As part of the End User Computing team I act as the Citrix Architect for the USDA. I develop and deploy Windows 10 virtual desktops and applications to the different agencies and 4000 users within the Department of Agriculture. Each agency has their own separate needs and applications and I define and design a solution that meets their needs. I act as the subject matter expert on the technology and provide plans for updates and changes to the infrastructure to in corporate new technologies and applications. All applications were either Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS), open source, or custom developed applications. The infrastructure used to deploy this solution was a private cloud infrastructure based on Cisco UCS and Nutanix hardware. All management was performed remotely to the distributed data centers around the country.
  • I was tasked with project management duties to deliver infrastructure projects to the department on time and within budgets. The latest network project was to deliver Cisco ISE to all USDA locations. This was completed on time and with minimal impact to end users in the 3000 locations around the world. I worked closely with executive management to develop pricing for services and plan a budget for the coming fiscal year that meets the goals of the department and the expectation of the agency customers. My team is all remote and the customer base is spread across the United States with some foreign offices.

Operations / Infrastructure Manager

  • I managed six teams covering all aspects of the infrastructure. This team of over 40 people cover disciplines of service desk, desktop support, server, storage, networking, hosting, monitoring, database, and procurement.
