  • The Family of Beyond-Line-Of-Site Terminal (FAB-T) proposal was a $300 Million air and ground satellite terminal system (MILSTR). As the Software Lead for proposal, led two software engineers in the design, architecture, and proposal writing effort. Also led the hardware selection (single board computer) for where the software executed. Harris won this $300 Million project.
  • While leading the FAB-T proposal, also led two additional proposals, EBEM ($85M) and MP-CDL ($23M). Harris won the MP-CDL project.
  • On the EBEM proposal, the US Army praised the prototype hardware, software, and mechanical design created as “innovative and well thought out.”
  • Led technical engineering team (Tiger Team) for a program with systemic issues. After program issues were open for several months, the following issues were assigned and fixed in less than three months to the customer’s satisfaction.
  • Antenna Control Unit Hard Drive Failure - analyzed customer usage and determine the rotating media failures required a more rugged solution. Resulted in an early use of flash drives in military applications.
  • Front End Processor Boot Failure - Worked with the Motorola 162 single board computer (SBC) to identify and correct the boot loading problem using the pSOS operating system. As a result, the boot loader was rebuilt correcting several TFTP errors in the boot PROM.
  • SBC replacement - The program was using a Motorola 162 SBC that is no longer available. Successfully identified and transitioned the usage of the new SBC in the system making the necessary pSOS software modifications.

  • Created the initial concept and carried it through the initial product release of IOWorks which is a real-time controller with a graphical programming frontend.
  • During the creation of IOWorks managed up to 27 software engineers and technical writers on 13 projects in developing Confidential ’s premier real-time control software product. Software products ranged from low-level NT device drivers to OLE/ActiveX Graphical User Interface (GUI) products. The user interface is based on MFC and is written in C++.
  • Designed and developed a no single point of failure fault-tolerant real-time controller (VxWorks based controller). The controller was used in Nuclear Power Plant control system, Rolling mill applications, and amusement ride breaking systems.
