Automation Engineer

- Designed and constructed a tool in PowerShell and C# using XML, XAML, XPath, and OpenXML to produce documentation suitable for presentation to external customers about any given Confidential Assessments. The tool consists of a main script plus six modules (two DLLs and four PSM1s) as well as three configuration files and a Word template. The tool is designed to be run, with little or no configuration, by project managers yet be extensible as Assessment conventions evolve over time. Project managers run the tool when a customer requests details about what an Assessment touches in their environment. It saves project managers hours of tedious manual research into the details of an Assessment workflow. This was a short-term development project for the ASD Automation group and required minimal supervision.

I was originally brought in to complete an SSRS tool for server lab management. This assignment split automation projects and as-needed application support/root cause analysis into roughly equal parts. The primary line of business application included standalone servers, Hyper-V, Confidential SQL Server 2012 SP1, Windows 2012 R2, AlwaysOn, F5 load balanced IIS 8.5, and TFS.
Service Operations Engineer

Responsibilities:
- Designed and constructed ASP.NET/C# Web Forms, T-SQL stored procedures, triggers, and tables, as well as enhanced existing PowerShell scripts as part of my contribution to a security patching automation project. System Operations Engineer
Confidential, Redmond, WA
Responsibilities:
- I oversaw support and led improvements to progressively challenging applications of increasing importance to Confidential ranging from departmental applications to tools used in the development of core Confidential products. Most involved SQL Server databases and IIS web servers. I continually strove to be in a position to hand over the oversight of my applications to those less experienced by paying attention to well written documentation and training material.
- Representative projects were as follows: Rewrote a production system in SSIS, originally written in Visual Basic, to more reliably process phone billing. Designed and constructed the T-SQL feed from Confidential to the US 911 system. Co-authored a T-SQL/VB for Applications pilot IT scorecard application. Participated in the enhancement of a production VB/SQL application to allow Excel uploads instead of manual data entry. Wrote a general purpose PowerShell script used to quickly stand up monitoring for critical application anomalies. Operated and maintained code for a production SSIS system to report Help Desk SLA. Wrote a set of T-SQL stored procedures and tables used every year to safely perform live updates of the financial fields on the records of all datacenter servers.
- Earlier on, I supported Global Networking Services (GNS) departmental applications and later, Cross-IT (XIT) corporate-wide applications. This work often included making direct improvements to JavaScript, CSS, and SQL code, or inspecting Visual Basic and Visual C++ code for bugs. I also managed the development work of several line-of-business releases requiring one to two developers.
