Innovative purchased Polaris in April 2014 this is the same company as Polaris. Just noting that here as this is a common question.
Worked on development of the Polaris ILS, running on Windows client/server. Instrumental in multiple phases of development cycle Analysis, Design, Implementation, Testing/Bug Fixing/Documentation . Used C /C in an MFC/.Net environment to design and implement business logic and UI.
Have worked extensively with SQL language to design and implement database architecture and stored procedures. Have done extensive work with SQL performance tuning and index manipulation.
Led project involving product analysts, developers, quality assurance, documentation in 2012 to work with eBook vendors to more tightly integrate their software into the Polaris ILS suite of products. Oversaw the integration of 3M eBooks into the Polaris ILS, and built a framework for other eBook vendors to be added easily.
Managed a team of R D and QA in 2014 during a period of rapid turnover in the business, layoffs, folks placed on transition periods, etc. Made every effort to keep those on the team focused on getting software coded and tested despite the many distractions around a company which had just been acquired and paired down.
Handled various tasks associated with management of people, and served as the programming liaison to the customer support team so that a high level of customer service could be maintained, while team members stayed focused on completing new software development/testing in a 4 month timeframe.
Helped guide the team to a successful release of a major version of Polaris software in 2014 using the agile software development methodology. This was already being used in other areas of the company, but it was new to the team. Worked extensively with product management to help mitigate the learning/thought curve associated with 10 years of previous experience writing requirements in word documents as opposed to user stories
Managed/developed remotely from home in Raleigh NC for over 2 years and visited the Syracuse office regularly. Used IM and video conferencing to do this effectively.
Worked with development staff in other locations Emeryville, Blacksburg VA on the beginning of a corporate wide software integration strategy covering over 20 different product lines.
Experienced with RFID technology and integrating into Polaris ILS.
Completed projects using web services and helped to develop Polaris RESTful API to allow customers to leverage Polaris functionality.
Been involved with employee mentoring on numerous occasions.
Have strong rapport with members of the library software customer base have attended numerous User Group meetings and have worked directly with customers on improvements for the Polaris products.
