Programmer/Analyst Contractor

• Duties include building, validation, test case author, and implementation of the SoftGene product suite (SCC SoftLab). Includes Molecular, Cytogenetics, Flow Cytometry, Biochemistry, and Pathology.
• 50% on-site and 50% remote. Self-motivated, deadline driven, highly productive member of the implementation team.

Programmer/Analyst III

• In 2009, I transferred to the LIS department, where I oversaw the Blood Bank LIS (Wyndgate) upgrade and software revalidation. Afterwards, I was responsible for the ongoing maintenance and day to day function for Wyndgate and the downstream interfaces.
• My current role is General Lab Programmer/Analyst III, my duties include maintenance, upgrade, validation, SOP writing, change requests and ultimately to assure proper function of our current LIS system SoftLab.
• Over the past 2 years I have specialized in HIS (EPIC) and instrument interfacing to the LIS, I am fluent in HL7, and can read interface traces with relative ease, my strength is in troubleshooting interface errors.
• In my current position I routinely work with the following middleware systems/applications:
• Soft SCC; Epic Enterprise; Data Innovations; MolisWAM; Telcor; Rapidcomm; Corepoint interface engine.
• Recently in charge of migration from legacy LIS (CCA) to our new LIS Soft SCC. I completed building, data migration, supervised end users, created training documentation for the successful and smooth transition to the new system. Being able to translate and/or improve old workflows and processes to Soft SCC.
• In addition to being the key person responsible for the implementation of the SoftLab system, I was the main person to do the recent upgrades for Soft v4.0.4.8 to v4.0.7 and SoftBank v25.0 to v25.1
• In process of upgrading SoftLab from v4.0.7 to v4.5
• Responsible for heading meetings with users to optimize the update process and get “buy-in” from users.
• Assisted in SoftGene build, validation and implementation, all 4 modules, SoftFlow, SoftHLA, SoftCTG, and SoftMOL (current version 3.1.13.3.14)

• I started at Thornton Hospital as a CLS on the graveyard shift for the General Laboratory, performing all general function lab procedures and performing Quality Assurance to verify the continued operation of all laboratory instruments.
• I was hired full time as the Blood Bank Lead, and was responsible for daily operations of the Blood Bank, including the BMT program, QC/QA review, and Transfusion Accountability Review.
• Responsible for component processing, transfusion testing, and specimen handling for infectious disease testing. Routine duties include:

Crossmatch testing, ABO/Rh, Antibody Screening and Identification.

CLS – Night shift

• Clinical Laboratory Scientist performing routine graveyard shift duties, such as..
• Stat lab test processing supporting entire 250+ bed hospital including Emergency Department.
• Maintaining all instruments as per manufacturer’s specifications.
• Perform QA checks & review QA reports to ensure accuracy of reported results.
• Experience with Cerner Classic and Millennium LIS

Evening Shift Supervisor

• Supervised 10 direct reports
• Private hospital setting, serving Motion Picture industry professionals and their families. I supervised the evening shift, which operates as a reference lab to the five outpatient clinics located throughout the San Fernando Valley. My duties include:
• SOP writing and updates to comply with CLIA, JCAHO and state regulations.
• Quality Assurance and Continuous Quality Improvement measures to assure accuracy and validity of all reported results.
• “Working Supervisor” – 50% bench time.
• LIS maintenance and POC. Meditech LIS and HIS systems
• Employee issues including performance appraisals, support and counseling.
• Ability to be flexible to cover dayshift operations when the Chief Tech is absent.
• Responsible for bringing 2000+ tests per month in-house, resulting in $300K per year revenue increase.

Laboratory Manager / Technical Supervisor

• Supervised/managed 5 direct reports
• Responsible for large volume physician office laboratory with a volume of approximately 200,000 tests annually. Routine duties include:
• SOP writing and update to comply with CLIA and state regulations.
• Quality Assurance and Continuous Quality Improvement measures to assure accuracy and validity of all reported results.
• Generate monthly lab activity reports for discussion with the Lab Director.
• Maintain cost effectiveness in all areas of the lab, including vendor comparison, equipment acquisition, LIS implementation (Fletcher Flora LIS), and establishing “just in time” inventory & supply system.
• Supply clinicians with laboratory medicine expertise to help in the diagnosis and treatment of the patients in the practice.
• Maintain a 300 patient coumadin clinic, including dosing and new patient orientation.

Senior Medical Technologist

• Responsible for component processing, transfusion testing, and specimen handling for infectious disease testing. Routine duties include:
• Crossmatch testing, ABO/Rh, Antibody Screening and Identification.
• Component processing, component labeling, result entry, QA report review, doctor notification, and eligibility assessment of donors.
• Writing, validating, and implementing of Standard Operating Procedures.
• Sunquest LIS experience.

Supervisor of Donor Testing

• Supervised 12 direct reports
• Supervise the testing of over 80,000 volunteer blood donations per year, totaling greater than one million tests in viral EIA, chemistry, serology, haematology, and immunology.
• Assure testing complied with FDA and AABB regulations for Blood Banking and cGMP’s.
• Review test runs for validity and compliance with manufacturers specifications.
• Troubleshoot, analyze and correct instrument malfunctions.
• Implement new equipment, including validation of Abbott FPC’s and PPC’s.
• Created training program for the Donor Testing Laboratory.
• Fluent in FDA regulations and AABB guidelines for the manufacture of blood products.
• Created and performed multiple validations of systems and processes.

Medical Laboratory Specialist – Sergeant E-4

• Perform comprehensive lab testing in the Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, and Blood Bank departments to aid physicians in diagnosis and treatment of their patients.
• Trained laboratory specialist students in general laboratory SOP’s, and helped develop specific training objectives for the students.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Fluent in HL7 and ASTM interfaces
• Very proficient in all Microsoft suite applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.
• Experience in POC and handheld POS ID phlebotomy devices and implementation
• Experience with setting up VPN and Citrix
• Experience in writing Crystal reports for data retrieval from database
