VAS Variable Annuity System is the core annuity system system of record at PLIC. Operators can enter various transactions through the VAS on-line. The technology stack comprises of JAVA, COBOL and Mainframe. As a strategic initiative, PLIC plans to sunset VAS in Q3 2007 and port it's functionality to VISTA. VISTA is the core application used to support Wellness Life's individual annuity products with an approximate active contract base of over 1.5 Million contracts. The application design is based on two-tier architecture and implemented utilizing Oracle forms Oracle Forms 6i for the front-end and an Oracle database Oracle 8.1.7 back end server. This would serve to save maintenance and enhancement costs and make the current system flexible for future marketing initiatives.
