- In 1996, the HIPAA act began requiring the adoption of national standards for electronic healthcare transactions and code sets, creating unique health identifiers. These NCPDP standards have created a consistent platform of communicating prescription, retailer, and third party information across the industry resulting in improved security and increased efficiencies. Project scope is to bring the existing Billing and Eligibility claim segments from the NCPDP 5.1 standards up to the HIPPA NCPDPD.0 Standards to meet compliance.
- Redrock will be rolled back from existing 134 stores and will be replaced by existing PDX system. This project involves smooth rollback without any data getting lost. Existing batch jobs runs fine after one few stores are rolled back.

Whenever a prescription is submitted online, a Claim will be submitted to a 3rd party Switch through a processor. This is called a Claim Request. Switch will receive this claim request and give the response back to the target, the response status may be Approved or Rejected. The Cost of the prescription will be calculated based on the Drug Cost, Tax, Location etc. The amount that the patient will get back depends on the insurance plan associated to his profile. Claim: Represents the combination of request submitted to the guest's managed care plan for reimbursement of pharmacy services and the subsequent response received.
