Principle Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • As a Principle Engineer I was tasked to develop a cross product automation test framework.
  • The products consist of a network monitoring application and an enterprise file transfer/security application.
  • There was a framework in place for testing the UI of the network monitoring application, but there was not a test framework in place for the file transfer/security application.
  • Not only did we create a UI framework, but also frameworks to test Rest API, Mobile, and cloud products.
  • All of the frameworks consisted of Java, Selenium Webdriver, ant, maven, vSphere API, and Appium.
  • I set up Jenkins servers to execute the test in a CI process. I used both Flow jobs and Pipeline jobs to execute tests.
  • The last framework I was working on was for testing interactive installation.
  • This was done using Winium, a Selenium remote driver for Windows dialog applications.
  • Another task was to create a coverage metric report.
  • The report, written in java, interfaced with the QMetry Test Management system and also with excel workbooks.
  • The application retrieved information from QMtery and the excel workbooks to create html web pages. Along with developing test frameworks, I also managed the test automation team for about a year.
  • The team consisted of 8 people, 4 company personnel and 4 contractors.
  • The contractors were overseas in Ukraine. Due to a company reorganization my position was eliminated and I was laid off.

  • Developed automation tests for both UI and REST API testing.
  • These test suites were written in Python, using both nose and Robot Frameworks test frameworks.
