Niagara Falls, NY

SUMMARY:

  • I enjoy writing and developing software. If you need to develop software and want to be around a happy person, you will be happy working around me.
  • The process still jazzes me I like talking about and communicating about the technology and the current design of the system or application that I and/or others are working on.
  • I enjoy including others in the discussion around the design and technology that I or others may be working on.
  • I want to cut to the quick of why someone thinks that the design is right or wrong. Personally, I love to learn, I think that’s the reason I like software development so much.
  • I read once that software was one of the toughest fields to stay abreast of. I believe that, it’s not for everyone.
  • I probably should have been a rock star because the other part of it all that I enjoy is seeing people use the finished app or system and appreciate it over where they were or what they were using before.
  • So as much as I like development I like to get the job done, even if it’s just a feature.
  • Of late I have been enamored with JavaScript frontend type frameworks and APIs.
  • My work lately has settled on Angular (2+, not AngularJS or Angular 1.x), I have also worked with AngularJS and Aurelia. I have also studied React and Vue. One thing that I have learned is the value of TypeScript over JavaScript when doing development with these JavaScript frontend APIs.
  • If you don’t know how that is possible, ask me to explain in the interview.
  • Please look through my career and understand the things I have accomplished even back when.
  • In my first computer job, acting as CEO, CTO, Designer Developer. I have written full - fledged commercially available applications (for the environmental testing industry) including full, complicated, math intensive, report intensive, applications.
  • Additionally, writing user-manuals and providing support.
  • In my third job, I wrote two significant frameworks.
  • I wrote a screen and keyboard driver windowing system layer, that was needed because I needed to provide the system I was working on, for DOS and for Unix/Xenix.
  • The solution that I built was significantly performant when compared to anything that was available at the time, on both the DOS-PC and the Xenix dumb terminals.
  • The second significant framework that I wrote was a full-fledged centralized Database Management System (DBMS) that, was based on a book I read by Al Stevens called “C Database Development”.
  • Written to run under Unix/Xenix (before networking was popular) I used shared memory as a communication mechanism.
  • There was no concept of centralization or RPC (Remote Procedural Call) mechanism in the Al Stevens book.
  • All communication to the centralized DBMS was through RS-232 serial communication.
  • In my next position, I developed a Virtual CPU engine and an assembly language and byte code, along with an assembler to compile the assembly language into byte code.
  • This was the basis of a portable illustrative authoring system.
  • This was long before Java byte code engine or the .Net CLI. Both have used similar schemes as their basis.
  • Something that is not on my Resume, at all, is a website that I have built called the Confidential .
  • It stands for Confidential, a virtual cargo airline.
  • You could call it a game or a hobby site where people could come to and fly a flight simulator as part of an airline. The Virtual Pilot would use my site in conjunction with another network (part of the internet) called Confidential .
  • Confidential divides virtual airspace in the exact same way the Aviation Industry does.
  • On Confidential you could act as a Virtual Pilot with a flight simulator or as a Virtual Controller with air control simulation software.
  • I did this as a hobby and to learn how to develop Web Applications on my own time.
  • I was also into aviation simulation. It was way more than a web application it was really an airline real-time tracking system.
  • I could write a whole paper on this single app.
  • I point to these systems because most were early in my software development career, and most don’t even see them as being significant. These are systems that I’ve written and been a part of, that are ones that I feel great about.
  • I didn’t write them yesterday but they show what I am capable of, given the chance.
  • They also show the diversity my creative nature. It is this sort of thing that I would like to be part of again.
  • I am capable of just about anything given.

This system required the use and construction of a proper Data warehouse that are built using a star schema using a fact table center with dimension leaves. The technology used for this aspect was WCF (Windows Communication Framework) with LINQ to Entities, to handle the data and, transact-sql.
