- The APS Marketing and Trading department identified considerably impacting vulnerabilities through reviews, where they made the decision towards this program to address them. The overall goal of this program was to replace and upgrade existing systems, as necessary, to close the identified gaps. Current systems, which had been identified as areas leading to gaps in the business processes, included TranZ and Power Costs, Inc. (PCI). The solution included the implementation of Open Access Technology International (OATI) modules, as well as upgrading existing and adding new PCI modules to replace all existing TranZ VB6 modules. OATI modules had been identified as replacements to the existing TranZ system capabilities for deal capture, scheduling, settlement, reporting, credit, and risk. The upgrade of the existing PCI modules and the addition of new PCI modules allowed for the replacement of TranZ Eval for after-the-fact costing, as well as provided for the automation of the backcasting process, the writing of simulations to a data repository, and for industry standard reporting tools. The transition to the multi-vendor solution allowed for the retirement of the TranZ VB6 modules, along with reducing the related number of APS-supported processes. The OATI system consisted of two sub-systems called Web Trader and Web Risk. The new OATI system hosted external to the APSC domain and needed data feeding in (imported) from various sources. The majority of these data sources were from the APSC domain. There was also data coming out (exported) of the OATI system going back into the APSC domain.
