Senior Systems Developer and Architect

Responsibilities:

  • Designed and developed tools to capture real-time system, application, SNMP data and log files to a Hadoop-based time-series database (OpenTSDB). These tools are used to capture over 10 billion data points per day of analytical data. All of these Hadoop tools used Java for data analysis requirements, such as mapreduce, etc. The data capture tools were written in C++, but the analytical tools were in Java.
  • Was trained by Cloudera in Hadoop and MapReduce/Pig/Hive programming and operations.
  • Designed and developed tools to capture to a MySQL database cell phone performance data. Each run loading approximately 16 web pages would generate in excess of 22000 data points which had to be captured in real time. The tool is capable of storing 100,000 data points per minute in the database. The data acquisition tools were written in C++ and the analytical and graphical display tools were written in PHP, HTML, and JavaScript.
  • Designed and developed a cell phone emulator in PHP that was used to verify other performance acquisition tools for correctness.
  • Assisted network operations staff in analyzing performance issues with Nokia production servers.
  • Designed and developed tools for the quality engineering team to speed up their generation of performance reports related to new releases of phone firmware.
