  • Wrote programs for on-line exams and Computer Based Training. Also stored scores from these exams and others entered separately and provided access for viewing by the individual students, as well as computation of grades and other statistics.
  • Wrote programs for transportation system which identified over 3 million in erroneous and double billing by shippers the first month it was implemented.
  • Wrote software to interface and control input devices to CPU. The company was developing a system for use in retail stores. The device would produce a receipt for the customer, print a record of the transaction, and write to a tape which would later be read to transmit the data to a central location for inventory processing.
  • On my own time, re-wrote Laundry List program to allow for random access corrections and insertions with coding which used less space than the original. This was part of a system which ran on mini-computers that could only address 64K.
  • Wrote an interactive data entry system, which included error checking, and crash recovery routines. The program used input data to control successive input. The data was uploaded to another mainframe, so routines to confirm transfer and clear work areas were included. Wrote other interactive data entry programs which were much less complex.
  • Installed and tailored new operating systems for upgrade from System 370 to 4341. The new configuration was DOS/VSE running under VM.
  • Made presentations to management and customer representatives on the status of programs, including budget, progress, and problems. Also acted as customers' representative, in some instances, for buy-off of testing. And represented our company on visits to subcontractors and vendors.
  • Part of transition team to transfer operation of Data Processing Center from one consulting firm to another.
  • Added numerous features to cost estimating and accounting systems, based on direct contact with users, for ease of use and timely access of data.
  • Wrote programs to aid in the recovery of lost revenue due to billing errors. Wrote programs to identify and rectify over billings, as well.
  • Wrote SAS programs and UNIX Shells to convert systems on mainframe to run on RS-6000 under UNIX and access data from ORACLE database using SQL.
