PROFESSIONAL HISTORY:

Confidential, Mason, Michigan

Enterprise Technical Architect

Responsibilities:

  • As a lead technologist: Researched mobile device management ( Confidential ) solutions using sources such as Gartner and vendor demos and selected MobileIron for a POC. After running a successful POC deployed our new Confidential solution to nearly 1,000 Confidential users on both iOS (Apple) and Android platforms. Managed all aspects of this project from installation of the software and configuration through to end-user training. This project enabled both our successful migration from Novell GroupWise to Microsoft Exchange and to an effective Confidential program for mobile devices.
  • As a lead technologist: After a competitive product selection installed a POC of Nuance’s Dragon speech-to-text dictation software for integration with our newly installed EHR (Epic.) Managed all aspects of this POC from installation and configuration through provider training. This project required managing multiple vendors for both software and onsite training as well as significant internal resources for transition to full deployment and support.
  • Dragon has been an overwhelming success at Sparrow in the ambulatory environment and is currently under examination for inpatient use.
  • As an architect: Successfully architected more than 30 different software and hardware solutions through the EA process since becoming a member in 2012. Projects covered as an architect span from non-clinical apps such as physical security (Lynx) and ERP (Lawson) to clinical solutions such as patient monitoring (Philips/Nihon Kohden) and pathology microscopes.

Senior Engineer

Confidential

Responsibilities:

  • Installed a 900-handset wireless telephone system from Ascom. Worked through all phases of this project from vendor selection through install.
  • Committed to using this large investment to the fullest possible became the first Ascom customer to obtain the Certified System Integrator qualification. Using this knowledge leveraged our new messaging middleware from Ascom to eliminate old technology and automate code blue (cardiac arrest) notifications resulting in a decreased response time from the code team of 3-8 seconds on average from notification to arrival on scene.
  • Implemented Confidential computer telephone integration) consoles in the hospital switchboard. The previous environment required the operators to navigate through multiple DOS-based screens and printed directories to route calls, identify hospital on-call staff and locate emergency procedures. The new consoles eliminated end-of-life DOS systems and consolidated all necessary information into a single, color-coded directory actively integrated with their phones. The result was a significant reduction in caller hold times and an increase in call throughput without adding staff.
  • Built Sparrow Hospital’s first computer-based messaging system for pagers and mobile phones. As no existing solution was available that met our needs at the time the features of several programs and pieces of middleware were combined to enable text messaging for the enterprise. To this point text messaging to text-enabled pagers required the use of antiquated, expensive leased equipment from our paging vendor. The new system, largely built on NotePage’s PageGate platform, integrated with Confidential, various nurse call systems/code blue and Ascom wireless.
