Responsibilities:

  • Organized and lead the redesign of existing OLAP datamarts to drastically improve response time: average time to answer dropped by 2 orders of magnitude.
  • Worked with business owners to identify data catalog design and drove the end to end implementation from cloud to presentation layer.
  • Restructured all of the business group's cubes to have appropriate partitioning schemes based on data.
  • Redesigned existing cubes to answer more questions while simultaneously reducing average time to answer from 15 minutes to 10 seconds.
  • While also moving the data warehouse from a PDW appliance to ADW (Azure Data Warehouse).
  • Created numerous data pipelines (Structured Streams) from raw logs.

  • BI development using SQL Server/Analysis Services. Developed a cube builder in C# using the AMO and Confidential libraries.
  • This new component builds an offline cube from historical data stored in a streaming file system.
  • This project utilized WCF, MVC, WF4 and AppFabric for long running process.
  • The site would submit a request through the web service to the workflow which then would pull metadata through another web service on the structure of the cube while concurrently submitting the query to the streaming file system to pull the fact data. Once the fact data was gathered it would notify the workflow to finish building the offline cube. After cube was built and email was sent to the user with a link to view the offline cube.
  • Created new dimensions in a cube used for partner reporting and worked on ETL package to load value into dimensions and fact using BIDS.
  • Developed a utility in C# that help manage cube(s) for the operations team. Gives them the ability to process and purge partition based on a user’s criteria. This was a command prompt utility that utilized the AMO library.
  • Developed utility to create partitions on cube deployment then after deployment process partitions.
  • This command line utility was written in C# made a connection to SQL server to pull metadata for the cube and determine what partitions to create. Used the AMO library to create the partitions at that point.
  • Developed WF3 process for coping very large files concurrently and restartable from Cosmos to a 3rd party for analysis.
  • Maintained a WF3 workflow that pulls click data from a Yahoo service for partner reporting.
  • Created in C# a command line utility that converted XMLA scripts into AMO object.
