PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Confidential, OR

Data analyst, ETL Developer

Responsibilities:
  • Currently embedded with a business team to create a data product that frees up data from it’s siloed reporting and analytics, and brings it together to give a bigger and complete picture, and to allow us to do better data analysis to help us draw better insights that in turn help business leadership make more informed decisions and drive more efficiencies. The MVP was a data product that is being scaled to more business teams and bring all teams to a same common platform, speaking same common language. Mu contribution was to get all the data that resided in different systems, to come together to help us formulate a story. My biggest challenge in doing all this was understanding the finer details about these data sources, their usage, and the grain at which it lives in each of the system, then bringing this all together in a common consumable view to be used by tableau/excel for slice and dice in a timely manner. During this project I worked with stakeholders to identify various sources of data, risks, challenges and assumptions being made, and priority of each work stream and dependency and challenges associated with consumption.

Data analyst, ETL Developer

Responsibilities:
  • This was first project where I worked independently as a data analyst. We set out to build dashboards that can be used by business leadership and business operations team at same time to manage the line planning and tracking them against set targets. We started working on a MVP product in an agile manner where we shipped out product updates every week and got a quick feedback from a small team that represented our end users. We brought together various data sources, cleansed and shaped them as our needs and started to create views to render them on tableau in a performant manner. Once we rolled out this MVP we continued maturing much of existing analytical logic to take care of edge cases, where our data was being dropped to complete the missing picture of End-to-End tracking of our products. The biggest challenge that I faced on this project was on how to work with different teams who were not on same platforms and were not very familiar with data and processes except in their area of expertise, and this became an opportunity for us to unlock next level of productivity with having data contracts in place that level set everyone on a same common platform.

ETL Developer

Responsibilities:
  • I was involved in developing another data product that shapes the data on how business wants to see it, and not how it really exists in system. The idea of this product is simply, that in this fast changing agile marketplace business teams can’t wait for IT to change and adapt the way they want to see data, and be agile enough so we designed a system that was a what-if scenario based tool, it allowed business to change how they view, classify their data without affecting enterprise with in their own workspace, and once they are satisfied enough with the change they hand it over to IT to scale to whole enterprise. We followed a MVP product model to experiment a lot, to see what really makes most impactful change for business teams and when they were good enough we would take the experimented MVP and follow enterprise standards to help is scale to whole enterprise.

DB Developer, solution Architect

Responsibilities:
  • I was involved in researching, designing and developing a CDC based system, that captured changes in transactional system and passed on those changed in real time to a NoSQL based application, that would serve this data using REST services. During this project I did research and POC’ed off the shelf products that could CDC our Oracle based transactional system and come up with recommendations on basis of cost, ease of development, and fault tolerance. We ended up developing a trigger based approach as our CDC mechanism, and developed a framework to automate creation of these triggers, and transporting this data to independent Java based consumer. We also ended up working with EIM tea to create various python based scripts that were used from Informatica DQ tools to extract data from MongoDB to do a data quality check.

Sr. Developer, Product implementation lead

Responsibilities:
  • Implementing automated renewals in the base product to create a new renewal image for a customer, 90 days before policy expired, the main challenge was doing everything in backend in automated manner, and only to notify Underwriter in case things were not same like, change in premium by more that 10%. Once this was done I moved on to a core team of people responsible for upgrading the product, my role on the team was leading 3 small technical teams that went in through the product upgrade documentation to find an impact on existing implementation, finding new functionality available in product that could be used and identifying use cases, and third team that helped to identify and mitigate UI changes to product. We would collate all the information that was identified by these teams, study/research them, and document It to be shared with wider teams for their inputs. This was one of the most critical aspect of the project, and the team was applauded by CIO and project sponsor and vendor for the level of detail and scoping out the while work.
