Responsibilities:

  • Serve as DBA for large, complex student management system ( Confidential ). Responsible for all aspects of bi-annual software upgrades to base system, teacher’s grade book, parent’s portal and peripheral support software including web servers and application servers. Supported application developer’s group with customized scripts and reporting by creating objects (tables, views, logins, ODBC connections), backup and restoring databases and deployment of SSIS packages, stored procedures and jobs into production. Supported multiple in house written applications including a student management system, inventory control, plant operations, travel authorization, staff development, school location and cafeteria management.   • Support development staff for an in house written student management system. This system was converted from an IMS database to DB2 with Confidential as the online transaction manager. Provide backup and recovery, data transfers between development and production, performance tuning, support QMF ad hoc reporting and nightly batch processing. Responsible for successful promotion into a production environment.
  • Assumed support role for legacy IMS databases. Responsible for software installation, Confidential online access, batch processing, data base engine troubleshooting.
  • Support a web based procurement system with a DB2 for Z/OS back end. This system requires a multi-platform solution including DB2 UDB on Windows, DB2 Connect, Websphere for Windows and JDBC connections to the mainframe using DDF. Charged with maintaining and tuning extremely complex SQL queries for use by executive staff, procurement services staff, and outside vendors.
