Software Developer

  • I am responsible for developing Microsoft Access and SQL Server databases and offering ongoing technical systems support for various departments within the bank.
  • The front-end is always MS Access, while the back-end is either MS Access or SQL Server. The MS Access databases and Visual Basic applications are always tailor-made. Tasks we see often are data imports from Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and comma-delimited or tab-delimited files. Often I need to extract, transform, and load the data to another system, making the an integral part of that other database within the bank. My strong preference however is to read directly from another SQL database, no matter Oracle, Sybase, MySQL SQL Server or any other data source. These imports are also often used to offer reporting that the originating system doesn’t provide. These reports are often needed by management.
  • Specific needs are also met, like calculating the bank holidays of a specific year, or applications that send out automated emails while allowing the users to maintain the templates of these emails themselves. As already mentioned, another example form applications that connect to more than one server and database at a time while combining the data from these different SQL sources. In this job I work with different environments simultaneously, often with comparable but different commands and syntax. I participate in system conversions as well. Documentation and version management is also part of the job.

Environment: s: MS Access, Visual Basic, SQL Server, Transact-SQL, T-SQL, Windows 7, MS-DOS scripting, WebEx, Stored Procedures.

Still to add: Extract Transform Load (Etl), Hardware Design (?), Software Quality Assurance (Sqa), Quality Control, Product Quality Assurance, Information Technology, Safety Assurance

Tomea Realty IT Manager / Real Estate Agent

Confidential

  • Regarding IT I managed all the PC’s in the office, including installing new and current software and releases. I configured most of the software, upgraded and sometimes downgraded software (i.e. NetDrive and Windows 10), and I tested all changes and installations. For the company cloud I configured the routing of modems and routers. I gave access to those who needed access. I performed the bi-weekly backups and I kept track of all software and hardware documentation and did the record keeping of all company passwords. If there were system malfunctions, I would troubleshoot and resolve them. I did the technical system support for the real estate agents at the office. Where needed I helped agents with Excel spreadsheets like adding formulas and printing labels for envelopes. I maintained the local network including configuring the CISCO Internet modem and the Netgear WiFi router, installing and configuring the Synology Network Drive (the office cloud), I installed surge protection and reconfigured telephones where needed. Out of interest I installed LAMP in a Linux environment and WAMP in a Windows environment with their MySQL databases on my personal computer at home. I explored fedora Linux and Ubuntu Linux.
  • Regarding property management I handled the incoming rents, I did the invoicing and accounting, and I was in touch with our clients, the landlords of the properties we managed.

I developed a software-gateway between a telex-computer and the Confidential email network. I developed the specifications, did the data modeling and structuring, wrote the programs and tested the software. Regarding the telex gateway I was the leading person. Hardware or software malfunctions would often be identified and resolved by me. I communicated with department managers and end users who used our services and I ensured customer satisfaction. To a degree I did system administration and I gave user access. I had the supervision over two employees. Internally I provided on-site trainings and presentations for end-users. Externally I did presentations at trade shows for Wang computers, their pre-sales phase. The job required intensive interaction with end-users, including user support.
