• Designed the largest Survey Process Text Analytics System (500,000 surveys per day) using parallelized Solr and Spark. Trained the team and consulted on the development of Solr at CNET in 2004.

In the course of the project I used BTEQ, FastLoad, MultiLoad, Teradata Studio 14, Teradata Viewpoint. I used SSIS for MS SQL Server and PGAdmin III for Postgres along with Java and Hadoop for the ETL process. I employed the ELT process after staging using Perl scripts to insert data into the preproduction tables. For Logical and Physical modeling, I used ERWIN and Visio. The project used the Teradata Enterprise Data Model for Manufacturing (with Telemetry) with the temporal module. The Teradata project was 1.5 years long. On other projects I have extensive work in MySQL over 13 years, Postgres and PostGIS totaling another 3 years. As a Data Architect I have over 13 years experience. Working with Hortonworks Hadoop for the last 2.5 years I use it mostly as part of the ETL process, employing Hive, HBase and Pig on multiple projects. Instead of always using Mapreduce, I often mapped keys using Lucene to gain a further advantage in processing free text or scoring relevance to uncover data trends at a deeper level.
