Oracle DBA/GIS Specialist

• Using an existing Windows 2003 File Server with RAID 5, installed Oracle Database 8x and ESRI’s ArcSDE 8x application on top.
• Designed the logical and physical databases for 15+ Oracle GIS Databases (terabyte+ of data) using Oracle’s Structured Query Language (SQL).
• Performed Database Administration by using Enterprise Manager and Oracle Grid and wrote and developed SQL scripts and procedures to create more databases, automate data migration and table updating, database maintenance, monitoring, report writing, backup procedures and other routine tasks.

• Ongoing tasks included: Upgrading from Oracle 8x to 9x then 10x databases including software patches and upgrading arcSDE to 9x then migrating the terabyte of data each time;
• Testing, modifying, developing, transferring, and researching then testing all legacy data, to move into the Development Oracle Database with Geobase SDSFIE and all metadata; Using ArcCatalog to push Development Database data to the Production Database for ESRI’s Internet Map Server (IMS) which publishes the data; Performed daily backups of the all databases by using SQL scripting; Trained major GIS editors and end-users to properly use the GIS databases and their metadata and to trouble-shoot connectivity issues, and resolve other database issues.
