Programmer Analyst/Specialist - Team Lead
Performed gap analyses between the company's existing bill payment processing engine and newly acquired systems. The goal was to seamlessly integrate the customer base of both of the acquired companies into Metavante's pre-existing bill payment system.
Primary role was to quickly understand and integrate customer data and any functionality belonging to the two acquired legacy systems that would need to be integrated into the existing system. Performed interviews with business executives and users of legacy systems to identify gaps and gather functional requirements. Analyzed and estimated the time and cost to integrate each major functional gap. Provided primary direction for migrating customer data from the two acquired systems into the existing system. Responsibilities: Provide analysis of functional gaps, initial design, and estimate cost for each project. Work with project stakeholders to determine viability and priority of each project. Provide direction to data migration team members. Enhance data model and work with DBA to integrate new data elements. Review requirements, functional design, technical designs, and PL/SQL code. Due to the large increase in both organic growth and new customer additions, there was a need to dramatically increase the capacity of the transaction processing system. The goal was to provide enough capacity for projected growth over the next year. Primary role was to develop and lead projects to increase transaction processing capacity by 25 times its current volume. The enhancements included, migrating from a Windows NT operating system to UNIX; upgrading from Oracle 7 to 8i; multi-threading batch processing; using PL/SQL tables in memory to process transactions; redesigning payments processing to incorporate more tightly coupled data inputs and outputs to reduce database access; moving business logic from C++ code to PL/SQL packages; and automating manual daily reports to run after the completion of processing to reduce contention. The projects resulted in capacity in excess of the initial goal and with no adverse impacts to system functionality. Responsibilities: Initiate, lead, and document results of brainstorming meetings. Document high level design of each capacity enhancement. Estimate project cost, prioritize project order, recommend project team members. Oversee benchmark tests, document results, & project capacity improvements. Review documentation to ensure the preservation of existing business rules. Develop and execute test cases and queries to ensure proper functionality.
