Senior contractor with Thomson/Tax Partners enhancing their Sales and Use Tax System (TRACS), requiring expertise in Visual Basic 6.0, MS Access, and SQL Server 2000.
TRACS controls the processing and submission of Sales and Use Taxes to all Taxing Authorities in the United States for client companies. The user interface is written in Visual Basic 6.0 and SQL Server 2000 is the data management system.
Visual Basic 6.0 enhancements required developing new Forms, Class Modules, and Active Reports.
Created new ActiveX controls (listbox controls, tab controls and frames, MSflexgrids) and new reports.
SQL Server enhancements required modifications to the data model, development of stored procedures and user-defined functions, with extensive use of Transact-SQL.
Created and populated new tables, established primary/foreign keys, and indexes (clustered and non-clustered)
MS Access/Excel/VBA application was modified and supported that provides entry of state sales and use tax data.
Researchers verified and upgraded the data for all taxing authorities using this tool.
Data was downloaded from the Sales and Uses Tax Application on SQL Server and combined with additional data from Taxing Authorities. The MS Access application was used as a tool to research and expand the data.. This was essentially a throw away tool for researchers to verify and expand Taxing Authority data.
Tax profile data was uploaded from the MS Access database back to the Sales and Uses Tax System SQL Server database.
