Senior Consultant
Responsibilities:
- Senior Consultant on SAP Implementation of TM to handle selection and assignment of carrier for Hot Mill and Cold Mill under specific conditions (Truck as Primary or Secondary Transportation method for goods) Remove existing functionality for Truck P& S, Hot & Cold Mill from the legacy system, while keeping responsibility for selection of carrier under Rail and Barge methods (only) within the legacy system.
- Legacy system: Mainframe, Primary technologies include ADABAS, Natural II, COBOL, IMS, IMS DC, JCL, interfacing with distributed systems primarily for check in and check out of vehicles.
- The implemented changes remove manifest creation and carrier allocation from the legacy system for Hot Mill/Cold Mill coils being shipped by Truck* (*Rail MOS where there is an assignment to truck for a certain length of time and certain weight limit also falls under the project).
- SAP TM is then responsible for manifest creation and selection of the most cost effective (truck) carrier.
- Analyzed Legacy processes to determine interface needs and to come up with options for the system to continue processing Barge & Rail for Hot Mill & Cold Mill, while still operating smoothly along with SAP TM and the new interfaces to and from SAP. Created functional and technical specs for all existing legacy programs, and outbound interface to SAP. During analysis, I uncovered several bugs within crucial legacy programs deemed severe enough to require immediate fixes. Responsible for analysis, design coding and implementation of the corrections to the legacy software.

- Responsible for development of all user stories and associated test cases specific to the business areas using this new process, documented expected results, outlined the Cycle schedules for each test period (note - we did not formally use sprints for integration testing), and recommended, developed and implemented standard post-cycle validation procedures, including methods for using standard utilities and tools to semi-automate validation (no automated test tool was available).
- The testing I designed uncovered two major defects in the actual design (as opposed to incorrect functioning of planned design), which were missed in design review, development testing, and user acceptance testing as well as locating some very subtle defects with potential for far reaching impact to multiple crucial systems.
