TSQL/SSIS/SSRS Developer

Responsibilities:

  • Created a data model based on multiple discussions with architects and the clients to facilitate the calculation of risk scoring for the members, the data for which was provided by multiple clients
  • Created all the tables, keys, indexes with the relevant attributes that the major clients needed. Some of the clients were Aetna, Scott And White and MVP
  • Designed several SSIS packages for loading the data from different Tiers to the Tier that was used for reporting and suspecting
  • The entire project was broken down in to 3 different levels/tiers i.e. Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3. All of the Tiers had claims that were submitted to CMS
  • As a part of Tier 2 and Tier 3 environment what all claims were loaded in to Tier 1, we had designed several packages to move that data over to the next tiers
  • All the objects were checked in and deployed to the servers using TFS Team Foundation Server
  • The reporting was totally based out of the objects and data in Tier 3. Several reports were created to identify the claims that cannot be used for risk scoring, distribution of HCC's for different members etc.
  • Company had its own portal where the reports were deployed and available to be used by the clients
  • All the connections, user accesses for the report were stored in a reporting database and those values were passed to the portal to make sure the reports were running fine
  • Most of the reports were drilldown reports based on the requirements provided by the client. The main advantages of drilldown reports was that they were easier to read, because the report was broken down by different groups
  • SSIS packages were developed following the templates that were at place. The templates had all necessary logging, inclusion of audit columns and package configurations that were stored in a Config table
  • Was involved in solving production issues related to reports, tables and data quality issues that the clients were facing
  • All this being a new project and brand new development, there was a lot of documentation build on each piece, so the future developers or members in the team won't face issues with understanding the project

MS SQL Developer/SSRS Specialist/BA

Responsibilities:

  • In the first project, the task was to convert all the old legacy reports sitting on the old ASP system to SSRS 2008. The code was converted in to stored procedures and the reports were developed depending on whether they were multi-valued parameter reports, drill-through reports or cascaded parameterized reports
  • Development and the production deployment of all the reports to the report server and granting permissions, setting subscriptions, caching reports, setting timeouts were some of the things that were done
  • Worked on an SSIS package to get a file which had no delimiters and no sequencing. The entire file was loaded in to one column of a staging table and the data had to be parsed to get the file records loaded to the main table
  • Worked on a CRM project that was designed to facilitate customer care employees to give welcome calls to the customers who were new to NTelos. Several SSIS packages and stored procedures were developed to grab all the new postpaid and prepaid activations and reports were created to give an overview of all the records
  • Was responsible for converting around 25 reports from SSRS 2005 that were hosted by our marketing team on to DW side and necessary data driven/event subscriptions had to be set up
  • Worked with clients/business users directly to grab their requirements and develop solutions that could fulfill their needs. Examples were some prepaid reports that told us how many people were active, churned, inactive, ported outs and had returns
  • Worked directly on production support to handle trouble tickets and troubleshooting jobs, packages and queries that existed
  • Handled partitions for huge tables whenever there were load failures related to those tables. Deleted data from some partitions and reloaded it by running the package manually from the machine
  • Was given the responsibility to tune up the performances of some of the already existing code, majority of the time was spent in reading execution plans, profilers and did indexing, partitioning and keys setup if it was needed
  • As a production support person, every week during the patching, I had to disable the jobs, stop all the feeds to data warehouse and ran some of the jobs manually by co-coordinating with different teams on which we were dependent
  • Deployed SSIS packages by connecting to integration services and then importing the packages there by setting necessary security permissions
  • Created summary tables in the events when it was determined that running the just the stored procedure for a report would take a lot of time. So, plan of action was to load a summary table daily using the code and then running the report from the table and not from the stored procedure which had a lot of different joins
  • During the meetings with the users all the new features in DW, for reporting, share point, and some website related information was demonstrated by our team so they are up to date with latest technology
  • Deployed all the production as well as testing related objects to subversion using Tortoise SVN which works like Visual Source Safe. All the rdl, dtsx .sql and .job files had to be deployed here.

Environment: MS SQL Server 2008, T-SQL, SSRS, SSIS, Tortoise SVN
