Confidential - Earlier the order entry process for hardwire or a private line service in COMS was time-consuming. The effort required adding a new flavor of one of these products is very large. It was due to the linear nature of the screen flow and the amount of hard coding inherent in these order-entry streams. It was decided to develop a third order entry stream to support virtual private line data services, such as Frame Relay to indicate that these were services that would be attached to a network 'cloud'. This sub-system is intensively table-driven. Rather than a linear flow of screens, it used a 'home page' concept, allowing the Users to launch other screens as required.
