Sr. Software Developer

Responsibilities:

  • Worked on multiple extensions of telecommunication project that supports 911 calls:
  • Created several multithreaded (MT) communication processes to retrieve various types of data (call location, PSAP number, address, etc.) from external entities.
  • Wrote multiple routing processes for cellular calls.
  • Developed helper tools library to speed up development and testing and minimize defects (provided extensive documentation and trained team members): wrote sophisticated XML Parser to manipulate data inside of a XML message. created an API that implemented boss/worker design pattern. The API used MT approach with call back functions and STL queues to pass data between threads. created several APIs to retrieve records from cellular call logs based on passed criteria. created multiple simulators using Perl for successful system testing.
  • To debug complex systems created process that based on XML rules was able to filter incoming events and execute appropriate actions for matching events.

Sr. E-Trading Developer

Responsibilities:

  • Designed comprehensive framework for multithreaded Price Server and API to access different exchanges.
  • Developed and implemented the CME Price Server to connect to Chicago Mercantile Exchange multicast channel, providing real time pricing for multiple clients.
  • Designed and implemented a group of servers, called “Services” that included: LogServer, Authentication Server, Audit Server and Position Manager Server. “Services” were used by other components to log errors, store trading messages and authenticate user credentials.
  • Designed Position Manager Server to track daily or complete trader positions in a real time, tied it to Audit Server watching transaction associated with given trader and portfolio.
  • Developed front-end Position Manager GUI client providing either today’s or complete detailed position information and balances.

C++ Sr. Software Developer/Analyst

Responsibilities:

  • Designed, developed and maintained financial applications for Banking Industry.
  • Preprocessor and CashProcessor.
  • Redesigned Preprocessor and created an interface to work with newly developed streaming Database considerably improving performance and user-friendliness.
  • An interface included writing subscription API that relied on public/subscribe mechanism to populate initial data sets in memory tables for fast data access.
  • Worked on design and development of Validation Process (VP) of LMS. VP checked incoming transactions based on predefined set of rules and criterias placed in an XML file - making it easy to use and maintain.
  • Modifications of current DB engine and major LMS components.
  • Resolving client issues.
  • Working closely with QA team on testing new modules.

Consultant

Responsibilities:

  • Involved in Perl to C++ conversion project for Fixed Income Security group.
  • Responsible for the evaluation, prototyping and enhancements of Instrument Service part of existing C++ framework (CFP).
  • CFP presents a layer that based on specific criteria preloads different securities into the cachedecouples the securities from the actual source and provides fast access to the securities for the client.
  • As a result this prototype was extensively used by other team members to create new Fixed Income securities (pool bonds, commodities, swap options, etc.) and load them into CFP framework.
  • Wrote program that performed fixed income securities (government bonds, notes, tips, strips, tbills) universe comparison for Perl sripts and C++ CFP clients output. Converted several Perl scripts into C++/ CFP framework clients. Clients then retrieved a specific securities from the CFP framework by creating complex filtering.

Software Engineer/Member of Technical Staff

Responsibilities:

  • Developed and enhanced multiple subsystems of a Reliable Clustered Computing (RCC) product. RCC presents a Real Time Client-Server application that resides on a cluster of a machines and provides an environment for the creation of High Availability (HA) systems. RCC relies on quick failover of running applications from faulty to standby machine. As part of this solution automatic monitoring and error detection was applied to recover failed machine without user intervention.
  • Worked closely with other team members to locate RCC performance bottlenecks and to recommend performance tuning and optimization methods. As a result redesigned General Resource Manager module architecture by introducing multithreaded approach. New process decreased response time and significantly improved resource management.
  • Designed and developed multithreaded process to test and highlight issues with SUN’s beta management application - Processor Management Services (PMS). The PMS process provides local and remote monitoring and control of a cluster of CPU boards and is a fundamental basis for Lucent’s HA systems. The developed test process utilized mutexes, semaphores and shared memory technique for data locking/unlocking and for interprocess communication. This process was so successful that SUN recommended its use within their support mechanisms.
  • Enhanced RCC capability by creating Chassis Management Interface (CMI) between RCC and PMS. The CMI process utilizes the PMS ability to monitor CPU health along with other CPU events through designated Alarm Card. If CPU develops a fault state the healthy signal state changes and PMS notifies registered CMI process about the change in condition in order to take appropriate recovery action.
  • Designed and developed PICL (Platform Information and Control Library) based API for the SUN Netra system to control watchdog timers. These timers were presented by a PICL plug in module. This API was integrated into the CMI process to recover the machine in case of a healthy signal state change. The CMI process using this API can access the picl-tree (also known as fruit-tree) to arm, pat and disarm watchdog timers.
  • Developed similar API for driver based watchdog timers for SUN Blade system. This allowed the SUN Blade system to be fully integrated into Lucent’s RCC product.
  • To satisfy client needs developed transition timers modification utility for Watchdog (WD) processor which is the foundation of RCC cluster. The utility, through RS232 interface, directly updated WD transition timers in order to allow client’s software updates.

Responsibilities:

  • Clustered Ingres provided the advantage of utilizing multiple nodes in a single Ingres environment.
  • This implementation utilized the DMFCSP (cluster server process) and Distributed Lock Manager to enable multiple processes to access a common set of databases, checkpoints, journals and applications.
  • The recovery functions in this configuration also provided a failover capability, enabling access to the Ingres to be maintained in the event of the loss of a node from the cluster.
  • Created complex shell script to perform initial Ingres installation on the cluster.
  • As a member of a team participated in the development of the Unicenter TNG security system.
