Responsibilities:

  • Primary support for maintenance and conversion of the Stock Options and A/P-G/L systems from mainframe (COBOL/JCL/RPG-II) to vendor-supplied SQL-based applications. Support including data analysis, data conversion, customized processes and reporting, and conversion validity assurance.
  • Solved Compliance’s needs for required equity ownership by building a user-friendly application for collating and managing Executive Compensation, using Microsoft Access and Microsoft SQL Server. This required collecting and auto-updating data from other systems.
  • Developed data-mining procedures for the Accounting, Treasury, and Legal departments for IRS audits in both the mainframe COBOL/JCL and client-server SQL Server systems.
  • Streamlined the daily procedures of the Stock Options Equity system to enact a daily processing of employee updates, allowing them hands-off automated handling of several thousand updates and cancellations per month. Was done by creating maintenance procedures that crossed source and destination systems including external vendors. This started with convincing users to accept a major process change. This allowed my users efficient event handling of half a million s for 70,000 employees. These updates also enabled Accounting/Tax to more accurately manage corporate tax consequences and Human Resources to not be forced into repetitive inter-departmental notifications.
  • Invited by, and participated in, the vendor ComputerShare to participate in their Strategic Council, a nationwide industry-spanning advisory group for their stock options software vendor. The invitation by the vendor to be a part of the twelve-member end-user product advisory council was targeted for technical/programming aspects.
  • Designed and developed the divestiture of $830 million in equity compensation affecting over 18,000 employees during a corporate acquisition, including human resources updates and data transfers to international and domestic payrolls, with zero major defects and enabling the compensation board to close all payments ahead of schedule with virtually no external budget cost.
  • Compiled a comprehensive set of daily/monthly/annual detail and summary reports that enabled users to report current Stock Options Equity system transactions, totals and values to Human Resources, Tax and Accounting departments, using Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Designed and built a Cash system that was offered in lieu of stock-based compensation during the year of the corporate acquisition. The project involved designing and creating the data storage structure as well as the processes for historical data control, automated data maintenance, payments and reporting. Authored a user-friendly Microsoft Access front-end to allow users direct and immediate control of updates and reporting. Bi-directional automated data interfaces were created for Human Resources and Payroll feeds, using Microsoft SQL Server.
